The people behind NextHome

Jeroen van der Werff (1965) decided after his finishing his merchant marine officer’s degree, not to pursue an on-board career. Commerce and logistics had a greater pulling power. He gained experience with sales projects at the Verhagen Trading House, logistics for packaging at the Droste chocolate factory and organisation and sales at the industrial Wholesaler, Aardse in Haarlem. In 1999 he joined the company, Outrage. From this small family owned bookings office for holiday chalets, emerged BBV in 2001; this property management company managed more than 150 holiday chalets in France. In 2003 he included this company in the Tex-Group in order to form a larger unit together with its sister companies. The Tex-Group, with a turnover of around 12 million Euros, has emerged from the tour operator ILS and the management organisation GrandAlpes among others. Jeroen was the Management Operational Director of this company. In December 2005 he decided to sell his interest in the Tex-group and accept a new challenge in the real estate business. This resulted in march 2006 in the establishment of NextHome, which he set up with his brother Maarten.

Maarten van der Werff (1968) chose, directly after his degree in retail and trade, an adventurous life that rapidly took him to France. Here he built up a successful hotel operation, and when this was sold he moved over to a Dutch property developer who concentrated on recreational real estate in the French Alps. As a member of the management team he was responsible for the arranging of a good rental and management scheme for the holiday chalets after they had been purchased. For an interim period starting in 2001 Maarten worked for the emerging tour operator, “Liberty Tours” which he built up into a mature company. Later he switched to the Haarlems Uitgeef Bedrijf (a publishing company in Haarlem, NL) where he was responsible for the marketing of the magazines. He also took responsibility for developing new business activities such as the launching of new magazines onto the market and organising trade fairs for the publishing trade. After the establishment of NextHome in 2006 he decided to become involved part time, heading the sales department and in March 2008 he became a full time partner of NextHome.

Patricia Blauw (1972) In the first years after her business administration study Patricia spent time acquiring a broad experience in the finance departments of several companies. In one company she was an Office Manager in an operational department, and at Sieling Security she learnt all aspects of bookkeeping as Assistant to the Finance Manager. She arrived in the tourist industry when she took a job at Budget Rent a Car and Transavia . With this new interest in tourism she joined the tour operator Outrange and the chalet management company BBV in 2001. Here she managed the financial administration and set up a method of rent and profitability for holiday houses until the sale of the company to the Tex Group. These activities regularly took her to France where she was jointly responsible for the complex financial structure between the Dutch company and the foreign branch. In 2007 she joined her former colleague, Jeroen van der Werff and his team to strengthen forces at NextHome. Patricia is Office Manager and responsible for sales support. In July 2008 Patricia became partner-shareholder in NextHome.

Pieter-Jan has had sales positions with various companies in the medical field. Independent entrepeneurship though, was more appealing. After taking over the family company Sinmed, he and his business partner grew the company into an international concern. Sinmed was selling its in house developed line of accessories for radiation therapy treatments, produced under their own strict supervision, in 70 countries worldwide. In 2005, Pieter-Jan and his business partner were elected 'Entrepeneur of the Year 2004' by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce for their innovative entrepeneurship. The company entered the top three in their market and gained international attention. In 2006, Sinmed was acquired by CIVCO Medical Solutions (Iowa, USA), a daughter company of NYSE listed Roper Industries. After having fulfilled the position of Managaging Director of European Sales for two years, PJ resigned and subsequently started actively investing his capital in companies and (recreational) real estate. Through the acquisition of two chalets in Austria, he came in close contact with NextHome. Being a good friend of Maarten, he got more and more excited about the company and felt it was time for a new entrepeneurial move. In September 2010, Pieter-Jan bought a third share of NextHome and he and Maarten are now growing the (international) sales.
